This roasted fig stuffed with chèvre (goat cheese) recipe is baked the oven and drizzled with honey.  It's fast, easy, and tasty.

Ingredients

  • 12 fresh figs
  • 2.5 ounces (~ 1/2 cup) chèvre (goat cheese)
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to low broil.  Spread a bit of olive oil on a baking dish.
  • Take ~ 3 oz (1/2 cup) off chevre and place in a ziplock bag or piping bag.  Let sit and/or warm it up with your hands until soft & pliable.
  • Cut off the stem of the fig and cut an "X" through the top going 1/2 way down the fig (see pic).  Place the figs on the baking sheet / pan.
  • Cut off an edge of your ziplock bag and pipe evenly into each fig.  Broil ~ 7-8 minutes or until chevre gets a slight brown color.
  • Drizzle with honey & add salt to taste.  Happy Eating!  Beckie

Notes

  • Bring your game up a notch and buy flavored goat cheese (fresh herbs already added).  Garnish with finely diced & cooked bacon or pancetta if you got it & want it.
  • Figs too wobbly on the baking dish.  Snuggle them in tight or cut off a small, flat service on the bottom of the fig to make it stand up straight.
