Add oat groats, water, and salt to a large pot. (Oat groats have a 1 part oat groats : 4 parts water ratio).
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer low ~ 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add fruit and nuts and any spices, sweeteners, or fats that you like. Top with milk. Enjoy! Beckie

Make oat groats in the crockpot if you want. Cook oat groats overnight on low for 6-8 hours. Try it in the day first so you can see if you need to add water if you're crockpot runs too hot.
