This simple oven roasted fig recipe is served with a sweet and savory honey and balsamic vinegar sauce. Serve roasted figs with balsamic honey glaze with whipped cream or ice cream.
1 cup ice cream or whipped cream , served on the side
Instructions
For the Figs:
Preheat oven to 400F
Lay figs in a single layer (cut side up) in a lightly oiled baking dish and cook uncovered for ~12 minutes or until warm and soft.
For the Sauce:
In a small pan melt butter and add cinnamon. Stir cinnamon into butter first and then add salt, honey, and balsamic vinegar.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and cook at a low simmer for ~ 8-10 minutes stirring occasionally or until thickened. Don't skimp on this step - you want it to reduce. It will thicken as it cools for a couple minutes.
Pour the thickened balsamic honey sauce over the figs and serve with fresh whipped cream or ice cream. Happy eating! Beckie
Notes
Balsamic and Honey Glaze will thicken as it cools, so let it cool a couple minutes before drizzling over the figs.
