Easy, healthy, & delicious grilled banana dessert recipe. Serve grilled bananas with ice cream and top with any variations of chopped nuts, chocolate sauce, or coconut flakes.
3 large bananas, halved lengthwise with peel still on
2 1/2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat grill to medium (~350F).
Cut 3 large Bananas in half lengthwise (keep the peel on) and baste 1 Tbsp melted butter on each half of the unpeeled portion.
Place on hot grill, cut side down. Cook covered ~ 2-3 minutes or until you see grill marks.
Flip over (you may need both tongs and a spatula) and grill another 4-6 minutes covered or until the banana is soft and pulling away from the peel. How long you leave it on the grill will depend on the bananas size and ripeness.
Mix 1 1/2 Tbsp hot melted butter with brown sugar and cinnamon. Baste warm mixture on warm bananas. Happy Eating! Beckie
Notes
Choose firm bananas. Ripe (soft) bananas are harder to grill because they will be too soft and stick to the grill. You also don't want an under ripe banana.
In the video above, my bananas are riper than I'd like but that is what we had to work with. If you're bananas are too ripe than either grill them whole (like in the picture above with a slit in it), oil the grill as well as the banana, or buy a non-stick grill next time 🙂
Bananas will need less time on the grill If you're bananas are riper, softer, or smaller than usual.
