This easy one ingredient watermelon popsicle recipe was literally a life saver when I got my tonsils out as an adult as soothed my tore up throat.

Watermelon popsicles are perfect for cooling down on hot summer days.

Homemade Watermelon Popsicles With No Added Sugar

These easy homemade watermelon popsicles contain nature's pure unadulterated sweetness and have no added sugar.

But, if you want to "up your watermelon popsicle game" there are plenty of ingredients that can be added for different modifications or variations on the plain ole watermelon ice pop.

Some additions to easy watermelon popsicles may include:

  • Citrus juice like lime or lemon
  • A touch more sweetness like sugar, maple syrup, honey, or agave.
  • The addition of herbs like mint, basil, sage, etc...
  • A touch of dairy for creaminess like yogurt

How To Make Watermelon Popsicles At Home

  • Cut off the watermelon rind.  Chunk watermelon.
  • Place chunks in blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour into popsicle molds, leaving a little space at the top, and insert sticks or handles.
  • Freeze for 4-6 hours or until set.
  • To eat: run mold under hot water and gently pry away the popsicle from the mold, trying not to just pull the stick/handle out.

Troubleshooting Homemade Watermelon Popsicles

Some of the watermelon pulp may settle into the bottom of the popsicle mold.  Just enjoy it. Having said that, watermelon juice can be run through a sieve to filter out the pulp for a smoother and more consistent popsicle texture.

The ice pop molds can be filled fuller than pictured, but it's hard to eat them when the bottom is filled.

Have leftover juice after filling up all the popsicle molds?  Cool - freeze it in ice-cube trays or simply drink the watermelon juice.

It takes at least 4-6 hours for popsicles to completely freeze.

Store homemade popsicles in a pre-bought upright mold or in a disposable ice pop bag. Once they are frozen, they can be moved (still in the mold) to a ziploc bag and don't need to be stored upright anymore.
