I use water in this blueberry and banana smoothie because, well, it's abundant and free. But, you can also use almond milk, yogurt, milk, soy milk, or whatever your dairy substitute is.

This blueberry and banana smoothie recipe is refreshing and for those days when you just don't feel like eating all that food, but still want the taste, nutrients, and a full tummy.

In a blender (top down view) banana, pecans, fresh turmeric root knob, fresh ginger root knob, blueberries.
Don't have nuts? Throw in peanut butter instead.

Variations On Blueberry and Banana Smoothies

I drink these when I have long cooking days as a personal chef and don't have time to eat.  Throw in a little ginger and turmeric for taste and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Want a smoother consistency?  Add more water or milk.  Want it thicker.  Leave it out.

This is a basic recipe - any fruit or nut or even peanut butter works! Bonus: They freeze decent too if you make too much and don't want to drink it all.

Blended deliciousness.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups ice
  • 1 cup almond milk or water
  • 1 banana
  • ¾ cup blueberries
  • ¼ cup pecans (or peanut butter)
  • ½" knob of fresh ginger
  • ½" knob of fresh turmeric
  • pinch ground cinnamon (careful this can make it hot!)

Instructions

  • Add fruit, ginger, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, pecans or peanut butter, and liquid to blender first and place ice on top.  The heavy ingredients on top will help push the other ingredients down and help it blend.
  • Blend it!  Drink it!  Love your life!  Beckie

Notes

  • Want a smoother consistency?  Add more water, milk, or ice.  Want it thicker.  Leave it out.
