Quick and Easy Sautéed Mushrooms

This fast and simple pan fried mushroom recipe has a wee bit of butter (or olive oil), balsamic vinegar, and fresh chopped parsley.

These are portobello mushrooms but button, cremini, or any mushroom type will work.

Serve sautéed mushrooms as a side dish or on top of chicken, pork, beef, grains, or lentils. 

Want a super simple recipe?  Cool - leave out the balsamic vinegar and herbs.  Sautéed mushrooms on their own are amazing too!

TIP:  Add ~ 1 cup of half and half to finished mushrooms -  bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered until thickened and toss with fresh pasta and Parmesan cheese if you're looking for a main dish recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1lb assortment of mushrooms: shiitake, portobello, button; sliced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon parsley, chopped as garnish

Instructions

  • Bring a large pan to high heat and add 1 tablespoon butter.  When melted and pan is hot, add mushroom, salt, and pepper.  Cook ~ 5-7 minutes or until mushrooms have lost all their liquid are are brown and starting to caramelize.
  • Add balsamic vinegar.  The pan should hiss and the mushrooms will immediately absorb the vinegar.
  • Add salt to taste.  Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.  Happy Eating!  Beckie
