This easy broccoli and soy sauce recipe is garnished with cashews. Broccoli is cooked in boiling water, strained, and then tossed with Sriracha, soy sauce / tamari, toasted sesame oil, and topped with roasted cashews.
Variations On Broccoli with Soy Sauce and Cashews
The three most important players in this fast and easy Asian inspired broccoli side dish are broccoli, soy sauce, and cashews. The rest is or can be interpretation.
- Don't like spicy food or have sriracha? Leave out the Sriracha or substitute hot sauce or dried chili flakes (hi pizza hut!).
- Don't have toasted sesame oil? No problem. Substitute olive, vegetable, peanut, coconut, avocado oil, or just butter.
- Like a hint of sour? Add a dash of fresh lemon juice or your favorite vinegar.
Use The Broccoli Stems!
This broccoli and soy sauce recipe uses the softer stems near the top of the broccoli in addition to the florets. One of my friends calls them "Broccoli Chips or Broccoli Coins".
Slice the tender stems and set them aside from the florets
Broccoli stems are tasty and just need to be cooked a minute or two longer than the florets. Waste not, want not.
